“I” vs. Reality creates suffering.

The individual will is “I.” Whenever it clashes with reality — what's happening now — is when we suffer.

You want it one way and reality presents otherwise. You want ice cream but none is available. You want to get there in 15 minutes but there is a traffic jam. That clash is the root cause of all suffering.

Initially the work is one of surrender, so that the “I” harmonizes with reality and there is no desire for this or that.

Then, a little later, the work is to remove the sense of “I” completely, so that there is no difference between “you” and reality.

Only one remains.

I speak from Silence.
