Your stream of thought
Is just that, a stream (or more accurately, a raging river).
A never ending current that you can either watch or jump into.
Jumping into it is no different than watching TV, flipping through the channels or surfing the Web, jumping from site to site.
Eventually you come to see how exhausting getting involved with this stream is, how distracting, also how tempting, as, after all, it is a form of entertainment.
Disidentifying with the content of your mind is not easy—it requires an act of will and daily meditative practice, especially catching yourself when you jump in and start tumbling about.
Your stream of thought is a stream. Knowing this is half the battle.
