There is no experience greater than the one you're now
As much as we like to think the grass is greener on the other side, it isn't.
The world is a playground of experience and there are billions upon billions of experiences that we can have.
Billionaire entrepreneur. Ninja. Humanitarian. Olympian. Pirate. Poor villager. Dancer. Etc.
(Not a single one of them better or more worthy than the other. They are all experiences provided for us to fulfill our earthly missions.)
So often we look at the experiences we are not having as better than the ones we are having, right now.
The formula looks like this: If X then I = some happy, positive feeling.
"If only I lived in a warmer climate, then I'd be happy."
"If only I lived in a more sophisticated culture, then I'd be happy."
"If only I made more money, then I'd be happy."
Think about your if x/then statement.
What happens is that you separate from the present moment—the current experience that you are having right now—and drift off to some imaginary, better world.
Pain usually ensues. Self flagellation maybe. Effort. Trying to. Stress.
The more you fight against and resist your present experience is directly related to the degree to which you suffer.
Since our present experience is the only experience we are having, by default it must be the greatest. There simply isn't another available right now.
So why not embrace it and look for the gifts that it provides? They are there and there are many.
And if your experience is one you are wanting to change, normally you can only do so through first accepting the present situation whole heartedly.
The utter tapestry of perfection displayed to us with our own two eyes is thoroughly breathtaking, unknowable, and mysterious. Gratitude arises.
Right where you are, everything is perfect, nothing is lacking, and your life will continue to unfold in miraculous ways.
