I arrived safely back in the US just over a week ago and suffice it to say, it has taken some time to readjust. If I had to choose one thing that stands in the greatest contrast between life in Rwanda and life here and the one thing that I think we could take a lesson from, it would have to be the exceptional sense of humanity I experienced from the Rwandan people.

As our trip winds down to a close, I'd like to give you one final update from the field. I'd also like to, again, thank you for your supportive emails, comments, and silent well wishes--they have been a terrific source of inspiration for the duration of my time here. The first email update from Lowman written on September 15, 2009.

Work at the orphanage during the day, as amazing, uplifting, and inspiring as it has been, still leaves us all quite tired in the evening. I apologize that I have not been able to provide more frequent and detailed email updates ... the challenging internet connection doesn't help either, as it can take over an hour to do things that take me less than 5 minutes at home! I hope this communication makes up for lost time.
