Salvation in small

If only the world had a 100 Gandhis, 100 Martin Luther King Jrs., 100 Dalai Lamas, perhaps then we wouldn't have the desperate state of affairs we have now.

It doesn't.

Their job was not to save the world. Their job was to show us how. To show us how to be great like them.

Us, as in everyday, ordinary people.

People with jobs. With families. With everyday struggles.

It's not another Jesus we need to wait for.

We already have what we're waiting for.

Us.

We don't need to muster the full greatness of the greats to make a positive difference.

Only a small fraction, maybe even less than 1%.

Since there are so many of us, simple multiplication tells us that if enough of us mustered just a little greatness, we'd have the equivalent of thousands and thousands of great ones, enough to radically improve our state of humanity.

Some examples of little greatness include:

  • Ending a toxic relationship, walking out if need be (that could include a job)
  • Saying no
  • Speaking up in public when you have something to say
  • Obeying the impulse of your heart (building something, having some conversation, starting some project)
  • Concerning yourself with the well being of another (giving to the poor, visiting a relative in the hospital, etc.)

Think boiling water. A few molecules boil first, then more, then more, and more and more. Pretty soon the pot is overflowing.

Salvation is in you.

Salvation is in small.

Salvation can begin today.
