Responding with silence
It is perfectly acceptable and OK to respond with silence when somebody is communicating from their ego, intellect or is seeking approval.
You do them no favor by entertaining the commentary or nodding in agreement, while underneath knowing something is amiss.
This is not truthful.
A gift you can give is by responding with aware, loving silence.
A comment is made.
Silence.
Instead of the typical noise or politeness that is returned (that then feeds the noise), the one coming from their ego or intellect now has the opportunity to hear their words spoken out loud in a moment of heightened presence.
The speaker will be able to hear their own error. They will have the ability to self realize that they are coming from an incongruous place—it feels like a sin, as if one has done wrong.
An opportunity for correction and greater lived truth has been found.
Don't be afraid to share loving silence. There's nothing awkward about it. Just make sure there's no judgment or righteousness to it.
